From the Front Lines to Students First

Northwood Technical College is deeply grateful to an anonymous donor, a retired war correspondent in northern Wisconsin, who has chosen to fund scholarships for veterans. The donor wishes to remain out of the spotlight, believing that those who serve in the military deserve the recognition, not him.
Sitting down with him to learn about his commitment to supporting veterans was truly inspiring. As Northwood Tech’s veteran student advocate, it’s a privilege to share his story of quiet generosity that’s making a real difference for veterans through scholarships. First, I was curious why he wanted to remain anonymous, especially since most people seek recognition when supporting service members. His response was simple yet powerful. “The remarkable men and women who constitute our all-volunteer military seek neither attention nor plaudits, while they are willing to lay down their lives on the barricades so that we can remain free. I strive to live up to their standard.”
